We start each morning with handwriting and phonics. Then we do our English. We usually have a book that we are reading to help us with these lessons. After break we have our maths lessons. After lunch we have our reading lesson and topic work.
Our PE lessons are on Mondays and Fridays.
Once a week with have a ‘Reading Buddy’ session with Hedgehog Class. We really enjoy sharing books with our Hedgehog partners in the library.
Reading to a member of our household for at least 10 minutes a day.
Using our sound and word mats to practise our phonics.
So far this term we have enjoyed reading and retelling the story, ‘The Smartest Giant in Town’ by Julia Donaldson.
In science we have been finding out about different animal groups. Ask your child to tell you about Mammals, fish, birds, and reptiles.
During Maths lessons we have been solving problems involving subtraction and splitting numbers into tens and ones (tens and units for us oldies!) We have also been practising counting forwards and backwards to 100 starting at different numbers as well as counting in 2s, 5s and 10s. This is something you could easily practise at home, on the way to school or when in the car.
