Welcome to Fox Class
Fox Class is taught by Mr Copsey and supported by Mrs Jagodzinska. In Year 6 we learn to be determined, brave and kind.
Each day begins with a focus on English and Maths skills with plenty of opportunities to revisit these areas of learning. In our afternoon lessons, the children learn to develop and apply their skills in a range of subjects including Science, Topic, Art, DT, Music, RE, PSHE and PE.
We encourage the children to read widely and a love of reading is fostered with daily reading times. This includes the children sharing a class text.
In the autumn term we have a host of exciting topics, including: learn about frozen environments in geography; the different ways contemporary artists use colour; how webpages are designed and made in computing; and much more. The highlight of the term for many children is our residential trip to Norfolk Lakes.
In the spring term, we find out about the fascinating history and geography of a contrasting location: Mexico! The children also learn to make traditional Mexican food. In science, children learn to investigate accelerating and decelerating forces, including air resistance.
In the summer term, our final term at primary school, we learn more about our place in the world and our planet’s place in the solar system. With topics including Our Changing World, in geography, Electrical Circuits in DT, and Earth and Space in science, the children ponder some interesting questions about changes they might expect to see in the lifetime. We will also end our year in celebration, with a performance!
Children can come to school in their PE kit on their PE days. At the start of each term we will send home a letter to let you know which days these are.
As a reminder, please make sure that your child does not wear any jewellery for PE, including ear studs – national guidance has been updated to state that we are no longer allowed to tape ears for PE; so these need to be removed on PE days otherwise your child will not be allowed to participate in the practical tasks.
Children are given English and Maths homework tasks each week on a Friday to be handed in on the following Wednesday in order to consolidate their class learning.
